🔐 Trezor.io/Start® | Starting Up Your Crypto Device

Welcome to the official guide to getting started with your Trezor hardware wallet. Whether you’ve purchased a Trezor Model One or Model T, this walkthrough will help you set up, secure, and begin using your crypto wallet with confidence. This guide outlines the steps for device initialization, backup creation, Trezor Suite installation, sending and receiving assets, and keeping your coins safe.

📦 Unboxing and Device Check

When you receive your Trezor device, ensure that the box is sealed and shows no signs of tampering. Trezor’s packaging is designed to be tamper-evident. If anything looks off, contact Trezor Support immediately.

📌 Note: Never buy a used Trezor. Always order from the official website or a verified distributor.

💻 Visit Trezor.io/Start

This is the official starting point for all new Trezor users. It will automatically detect your operating system and guide you to download Trezor Suite — the desktop app that allows you to use and manage your crypto securely.

⚙️ Installing Trezor Suite

Download Trezor Suite for Windows, macOS, or Linux. Once installed:

  1. Connect your Trezor device via USB
  2. Launch Trezor Suite
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the latest firmware
🔒 Security Tip: Trezor devices are shipped without firmware installed. This ensures no one has tampered with your device before first use.

🛠️ Setting Up Your Wallet

After installing firmware:

  1. Select “Create new wallet” in Trezor Suite
  2. Choose the backup method (Standard or Shamir - Model T only)
  3. Write down the 12, 18, or 24 recovery words shown on the device
  4. Confirm each word on the device for verification

🧾 The Recovery Seed

This is the most critical part of your setup. Your recovery seed is the only way to restore your wallet in case of device loss, theft, or damage.

⚠️ Warning: If someone gains access to your recovery seed, they can steal your assets. Protect it like cash or gold.

🔢 Setting a PIN

After your recovery seed, setting a PIN is your next layer of security. You’ll use this every time you unlock your device.

💼 Adding Coins & Wallets

In Trezor Suite, you can manage a wide range of cryptocurrencies, including:

Use the Add Account button to begin managing wallets for each coin.

📥 Receiving Crypto

  1. Click on your selected coin/wallet
  2. Select Receive
  3. Verify the receiving address on your Trezor screen
  4. Copy and share the address

📤 Sending Crypto

  1. Click Send in Trezor Suite
  2. Paste the recipient address
  3. Enter the amount and set the transaction fee
  4. Review and confirm on your Trezor device

If you already had a Trezor or another BIP-39-compatible wallet:

  1. Choose “Recover Wallet” during setup
  2. Enter your recovery seed word-by-word on the device
  3. Set a new PIN
  4. Your wallets and funds will automatically reappear
